The story of Young Chang starts in 1956 with three brothers from a prominent South Korean family: Jai-Young Kim, Jai-Chang Kim, and Jai-Sup Kim. Growing up, the brothers learned and worked in piano production. During this period of South Korea’s history, the country had emerged as a major economy and producer of high-quality goods. Although the piano market was well-established at this point, the brothers felt the time had come to embrace the challenge of disrupting the industry. In 1995, in response to rising Korean wages and to supply a growing Chinese domestic market, Young Chang built a 750,000-square-foot factory in Tianjin, China, and gradually began to move manufacturing operations there. Today, all Young Chang pianos are made in China.
This 2002 model PG-175 used grand piano was build in South Korea as part of a partnership with Pramberger. This gives the piano a richer, warmer tone with an overall better build quality and longer life expectancy.
