Ignaz Bosendorfer started his piano manufactory in 1828 (the year following Beethoven’s death) and his ideas of sound were very much shaped by Vienna’s cultural environment – which was profoundly influenced by Beethoven. As a result, many distinguished artists have chosen Bosendorfer instruments for their interpretations of Beethoven’s music. Thus – to celebrate the great composer and Bosendorfer’s 250th anniversary - Bosendorfer introduced this special edition piano.

Silkscreened onto the inside of the grand piano lid are the opening measures of the Presto Agitato from Beethoven’s “Moonlight” Sonata, Op. 27 No. 2. The piano's fallboard logo is custom inlaid mother of pearl. Even the music desk features a “moonlight” colored mother of pearl Beethoven inlay. This special edition features nickel hardware, contemporary legs and a commerative cheek block plaque. The first Beethoven 250th Anniversary Edition piano was released in 2020.
